Magellan Poi File Editor 4.2
Finished, press the ESCAPE key to return to the Configuration menu. 8.1.2 Custom POIs. Bobber Typeface Font Ttf Only. The Custom POI menu enables you to select POIs previously loaded into your Magellan RoadMate using the Magellan. RoadMate POI Manager software (see page 78). The following instructions are assuming that you have loaded one.

I have a Magellan 4040, which is a car GPS, and I have recently become interesting in putting some custom points of interest containing cache locations into the GPS. I don't use this GPS for caching itself, but it would be nice to have the caches in there to find the nearest ones to wherever I'm parked, and it's also better at calculating efficient routes to caches taking roads than my iPhone (what I use for actual cache hunting). Eaton Cutler-hammer Surge Protector Installation. I've started using the POI editor, and it works fine, but it's a bit of a pain to input the caches one at a time into the editor. I can download the Garmin GPX files and the POI editor will import them, but I can only do that one at a time, and it wants to make a separate POI file for each one. This would be defeat the purpose, as you can only load one POI file at a time from the SD card to the unit.
When doing it manually I can put multiple waypoints into each file. Has anyone used this and found a better way to input the downloadable formats from the website into the POI editor than doing it manually one at a time?
Or maybe I am overlooking a way to put multiple GPX files into one waypoint file? Again I'm not looking for suggestions for which other GPS unit to buy, I have the Magellan and I like it for road navigation, I'm just looking for a way to integrate it into my cache trips along with the iPhone, because it is vastly better at plotting fuel-efficient driving routes from near each cache to near the other cache by road. If you run a pocket query you can load the resulting gpx file directly into the POI editor. It loads all of the caches into one single file. Is this not working for you? JetSkier Didn't know about the pocket queries. Where is the link to this? I was able to find it through a google search but I dont see a link on the site.
This may do what I'm wanting, I'll try it out. Thanks for the tip! And Re: trainlove - The unit I have is a Magellan, there is a little program on the CD that came with it called POI editor, it will import GPX files, what I was looking to do was include multiple caches into one GPX file, which looks as if the pocket query will do for me. Will try and report back.
Magellan 1 Unpack the file you have downloaded from POIplaza. 2 Using Magellan POI File Editor, an application that comes with your Magellan GPS create a folder named My POIs in My Documents. Save all downloaded Magellan POI files there. 3 Convert downloaded.csv to a.mgln data format with Magellan POI File Editor. 4 Go to Menu ->Navigation Options ->Configuration ->Custom POIs ->Select a POI File and select downloaded Magellan POI's. 5 Launch navigation.
Note: The POI may be displayed as an inaccessible location if the map you are using is not sufficiently detailed.
